ROI Team and Shopping Centre Magazine released the first findings from their What do Shoppers Say? project at the Shopping Centre Conference on 22nd March 2011.

The first research topic was the impact of fuel prices on shopper behaviour. The findings show that 4 out of 10 shoppers intend to limit use of their cars for shopping as a result of the high cost of fuel. Of these shoppers almost one half intend to reduce the number of shopping trips that they make. Shoppers over 45 are more likely to reduce their number of shopping trips because of high fuel prices. Younger shoppers say they intend to cut back on their use of out-of-town shopping locations.

Managing Director of ROI Team Andrew McCall commented “At a time of change and uncertainty in government and in the economy, it is important that shoppers have a chance to have their say on the issues that confront them. We are delighted to offer a voice to shoppers under What do Shoppers Say?

Publisher of Shopping Centre magazine, Tim Langford added “We are pleased to give our support to What do Shoppers Say? Many of our subscribers are managers of retail destinations and we know how important it is for them to understand the opinions and concerns of shoppers”

What do Shoppers Say? is a project managed by ROI Team in conjunction with Shopping Centre Magazine to give shoppers a voice about issues of the day.  Each month ROI Team will be questioning shoppers in different locations up and down the country. Findings will be revealed first in Shopping Centre Magazine.

Shopping centre managers are invited to contribute by letting ROI Team know what they believe are the big issues for their shoppers today.

In this sweep, ROI Team interviewed over 400 shoppers in Blackburn, Luton and Uxbridge. All participants were shoppers in centres managed by The Mall, and ROI Team extends thanks to The Mall for their co-operation.
